Boston Common fountain restored
A renovated Brewer Fountain was reinstalled at the northeast corner of Boston Common on Tuesday. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department reports that it “rehabilitated” the fountain with funds from the city's Capital Improvement Program, a Save America's Treasures grant, and support from private donors including the Friends of Boston Common and the Public Garden. "The bronze artwork has been repaired and a new, efficient water recycling system installed," the department says. "The water in the 1868 fountain will be flowing once again in the spring of 2010.”
